Packaging device BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to a packaging arrangement with which objects are stacked on a support part, such as a pallet or a roll container. Subsequently, these objects are secured thereon (secured) with the aid of a flexible, flexible web material, which can for instance be sheet-shaped, such as a foil, or mesh / mesh-shaped, which is wrapped around the support part and the stack. The invention further relates to a method directed thereto.
Using a so-called portal robot, it is known to pick up objects, such as boxes, trays, bundled material, crates, crates, baking trays, plates, etc., from a supply and piece by piece, layer by layer, on a pallet placed on the substrate. to stack and, after the stack is ready, move the stack to another, distant frame and fix it there with foil by means of a foil dispenser moved around the stack and circling around a guide ring moving vertically in the frame .
The robot is arranged in the first (stacking) station on a carriage on which the robot can move in the X direction, while the carriage itself can be moved in the Y direction. The robot is provided with a gripper with clamps, suction cups and / or a scoop and can be moved in Z direction relative to the carriage. A disadvantage of this is that the placement robot must be able to carry out a long displacement path in a vertical sense. When picking up a high-level supply, the robot must be able to move between the high supply and an empty pallet; when picking up a low supply, the robot must be able to move between the low supply and the almost completed stack. The guidance of the robot may have to extend far above the portal, as a result of which the vertical space can be large.
In the second (wrapping) station, after placing the formed stack therein, the guide ring is brought to the bottom of the stack and then moved upwards while wrapping the stack with film. There must be provisions for this to be able to move the guide ring up and down.
A further drawback of the known arrangement is that it takes up a lot of space. Special facilities, such as safety screens and detectors, are required for each station.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
An object of the invention is to provide a packaging arrangement and method of the type mentioned in the preamble which improves at least one of these disadvantageous aspects.
It is an object of the invention to provide a packaging arrangement and method of the type mentioned in the preamble with which a stack of articles can be made in a controlled manner and wrapped with a web-like material.
An object of the invention is to provide a packaging device and method of the type mentioned in the preamble that occupies a limited vertical space.
An object of the invention is to provide a packaging arrangement and method of the type mentioned in the preamble that occupies a limited horizontal space.
An object of the invention is to provide a packaging arrangement and method of the type mentioned in the preamble which can suffice for a limited number of moving parts for operation.
It is an object of the invention to provide an efficiently operating or efficient packaging arrangement and method of the type mentioned in the preamble.
To achieve at least one of these objects, the invention provides, from one aspect, in a device for placing a quantity of objects, such as boxes, on a support part, such as a pallet, and with a web-like material such as a foil or fixing and surrounding such objects on the support member, comprising a frame, a winding device and carrier / guide therefor which defines a bypass path along which the winding device rotates and which is supported by the frame, and a positioning device with means for carrying picking up the objects from a supply and placing them on the support part or a layer of objects situated thereon, and a support for the support part to keep the support part, viewed in projection on a horizontal surface, substantially within the orbit, wherein the positioning device is arranged for placing the objects on the support part and / or e and a layer of articles disposed thereon in the upper region of the frame, wherein the carrier / guide for the winding device is arranged vertically in an upper region of the frame, the device furthermore being provided with drive means for vertically displacing the support, drive means are adapted to lift the support in the upper region of the frame and lower the support again, wherein the placing device is arranged for picking up the objects from a supply near, next to or in the upper area of the frame and placing of the support the objects on the support part or a layer of objects located thereon in the upper region of the frame.
In the packaging device according to the invention, the winding can follow directly after the stacking, without significant horizontal displacement of the finished stack of objects with support component being necessary, so that process time is saved. The carrier / conductor for winding and the support member for receiving objects and being wound with the objects can be located one above the other. The device can be of compact and simple design. Moreover, the integrity of a stack of difficult-to-stack (in itself unstable) cargo, often irregularly shaped objects, such as deep-frozen carcasses, can be better preserved. The vertical displacement of the support can be realized with simple means that take up little space. The fixed arrangement of the carrier / guide further simplifies the arrangement. By picking up the objects in an upper area, the placing device can have a limited height, so that the device as a whole can be limited in height. Furthermore, speed is thereby won. The placement device can in particular be a robot with a vertical guide along which a pick-up unit can be moved up and down.
In one embodiment the device further comprises a supply for the objects. The supply may extend in a horizontal sense to within the frame for presenting the objects to the placing device. The positioning device can hereby be kept simple.
In a further development thereof, the supply outside the frame is adapted to raise the objects, in particular forms a rising track, in particular from a base on which the frame is also placed. In this case the objects are therefore lifted by the displacement device prior to being picked up. The supply per se can, however, be simple.
In a further development of the device according to the invention, it is provided with control means for activating the drive means for stepwise lowering of the support. The control means can also be adapted to activate the winding device for a circulation in register with the activation of the drive means for the support. The wrapping then always takes place per layer, so that the layer of objects just formed is recorded on the stack as soon as possible after placement. Both activations can at least partly coincide, whereby a spiral-shaped foil winding is realized.
In a further development of that device, the control means are adapted to activate the wrapping device for a circulation in register with the activation of the drive means for the support, during the control means activating the positioning means in making a subsequent layer of objects. This is won on time.
The speed of forming the lower layer of objects can be promoted if the drive means are adapted to lift the support to such an extent that the support component extends within the carrier / guide.
In one embodiment, the support / articulation of the winding device is circular and the support is arranged to hold the support member centric with respect to the support / guide.
From a further aspect, the invention provides a method for placing a quantity of objects, such as boxes, on a support part, such as a pallet, and fixing it with a web-like material such as a foil or the like and surrounding said objects on it. support part, wherein the objects at the location of a packaging device are picked up by a placement device in an upper region of the packaging device and thus placed on the support part placed in the packaging device, wherein during or after the formation of one or more layers of objects on the support part or on a support part or more layers of articles located thereon the relevant layer or layers of articles are fixed on the support member and / or a layer of articles disposed thereon by winding in the packaging device with the web material.
In a further development of this method, the articles are supplied from a lower region to an upper region of the packaging device and are picked up there by the placing device. During or after forming one or more layers of articles on the support member, the support member can be lowered over a predetermined distance and a winding cycle is performed.
In one embodiment, the lowering takes place step by step. In an alternative embodiment, the lowering takes place gradually and during a winding cycle.
The lowering of the support part and the winding can at least partly coincide.
Each time the upper layer of objects just formed can be recorded by wrapping with the film.
The winding can already be started prior to the completion of the then upper layer of articles.
In a speed-promoting embodiment, which is particularly preferred, during the winding of the upper layer of objects, the placing device is operated for placing objects on the upper layer. The speed is hereby promoted in that the placing device can pick up the objects in the upper area.
In one embodiment, the objects are lifted from a substrate to the area of the placement device.
During the stacking of objects on the support part and the winding until completion of the package, the support part can remain in place horizontally.
In one embodiment, the winding is carried out with a winder that is supported and guided by a ring, wherein during the formation of the lower layer of objects on the support member the support member extends into the ring.
After completing the stack of articles and wrapping them, the assembly of support member and stack of articles supported thereon can be discharged from the packaging device with a transport means. Thereafter, a next, empty support part can be placed and brought up to the place of loading and a next process run can be performed.
The winder itself can remain vertically in place.
It is noted that in US 5,203,671 a packaging arrangement is shown in which a robot picks up the objects from a low-lying surface. As a result, the vertical axis of the robot must be relatively long, so that the working space must also be high.
DE 93 11 247 shows an arrangement in which no robot is present, but the objects are brought from a high conveyor, from the side, above the pallet with a slider, which is then pulled away in a direction towards the supply.
EP 0.561.098 shows an arrangement in which neither a robot is present. Here too, the objects are moved from a high conveyor to above the pallet, over a roller conveyor, which is then pulled away, in a direction away from the supply.
The aspects and measures described in this description and claims of the application and / or shown in the drawings of this application can, where possible, also be applied separately from each other. These individual aspects can be the subject of split-off patent applications that are aimed at this. This applies in particular to the measures and aspects that are described per se in the subclaims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The packaging device 1 shown in Figs. 1A and 1B comprises a gantry frame 2 with columns 3 and beams 4 and 5 which connect to each other on a base or bottom 100 and have a main carriage 7 supported on the beams 4, which comprises carriers 40 and two girders 41, which as a whole, with means not further shown, can be displaced in a driven manner in directions A (Figure 1B) over rails 42 on beams 4. The girders 41 each bear a rail 8 on which a auxiliary carriage 9 is displaceable in the directions B (Figure 1B). The auxiliary carriage 9 supports a robot 6, which is provided with a vertical guide 10 along which a lifting unit 18 can be driven in directions C, which lifting unit carries a vertical robot arm 11. Arranged at the lower end of the robot arm 11 is a rotatable (directions E) pick-up unit 12 which is provided with clamps 13 movable in directions D in a directional manner. A packaging device constructed in this way is generally known and is also referred to as a gantry robot. However, the robot used for this purpose is then adapted to pick up objects from the bottom and place them on a pallet placed on the bottom, and thus to stack them on.
A support / guide ring 15 is fixed to the column 3 in an upper area of the gantry 2, along which a carriage 16 with foil dispenser 17 can run in a driven manner, delivering a web of film material or other sheet material to an inside said orbital path group of objects prepared.
At the level of the ring 15 a supply track 20 extends into the space enclosed by the portal 2, which supply track 20 is provided with driven rollers 22 which are rotatably supported in frame 21 for transporting objects V in the direction F. The supply track is arranged to lift objects V, such as boxes, from the bottom 100 or a supporting surface arranged thereon to a location within the portal 2, in an upper area thereof, where the robot 6 can pick up the objects.
The device 1 is furthermore provided with a support device 30 with a support holder 31 and a support part 32, in this example designed as three forks for supporting a pallet P. It will be understood that the support 30 can also be designed to support other carriers for objects. supports, such as, for example, roll containers whose walls have first been removed. The support holder 31 can be moved up and down in the G directions with the aid of motors / winches 34 and cables 36 along upright guides 33, which are fixed at the upper end to a beam 5 and are provided there with a by-pass disc 35. Other modes of drive are of course possible.
A central programmable control unit 200 is provided for controlling the various drives.
With the packaging device 1, a packaging cycle can be carried out as follows.
A pallet P is placed on the support part 32 with a fork lift truck or via a roller conveyor, centered with respect to the ring 15. The support holder 31 with support part 32 and pallet P is then lifted in direction H until the support part just below the ring 15 is brought (Figures 2A and 2B).
Boxes V are supplied through the supply path 20 to within the frame 2 and within the range of the robot 6. The robot 6 is operated to clamp and pick up the front box or group of boxes V with the picker 12 and the clamps 13 thereof. The picker 12 is moved slightly upwards by lifting unit 18 and brought above the correct place on the pallet by operating the auxiliary carriage 9 and the main carriage 7 (direction I). The lifting unit 18 lowers the picker 12 again to place the box V on the pallet P. The clamps 13 are then opened and the picker 12 is brought back again to pick up a next box or group of boxes V. In this way a first layer of boxes (Figure 3) is made on the pallet P.
After the first layer is completed, the support holder 31 and thus the support part 32 and the pallet P are lowered over a certain distance, to the position of figure 4. The free end of the film web S is fixed on the pallet P and the carriage 16 with dispenser 17 is brought into circulation along the guide 15 to surround / secure the first layer and the pallet with the foil web S.
It may be that a package of only one layer of boxes V is desired, in which case the process can be terminated. If a package with several layers of boxes V is desired, in the meantime the robot 6 is operated to place the next layer of boxes on the first layer of boxes. The winding of a first layer and the formation of a second layer thereon can thus at least partly coincide. When the second layer is complete, the support holder 31 is lowered by one layer height and the preceding process is repeated. The carriage 16 with dispenser 17 can optionally already be put into circulation during that lowering, in which case a spiral winding is obtained, or immediately thereafter. During lowering the picker can also be operated to form the next layer.
This cycle is repeated until the stack of boxes on the pallet P has reached the desired height and the top layer of boxes has also been fixed by wrapping with the foil web S on the layer of boxes located thereunder (Figure 5).
The support holder 31 has then arrived at the bottom 100 and with a fork lift truck or other suitable means the assembly of pallet P and stack of boxes V can be lifted and removed from the support part 32. For a subsequent packaging cycle, a new pallet P is placed on the support member 32.
Due to the limited vertical displacement of the picker 12, the vertical conductor 10 can remain limited in length, and thus the total height of the device 1.
The above description is included to illustrate the operation of preferred embodiments of the invention, and not to limit the scope of the invention. Starting from the above explanation, many variations will be evident to those skilled in the art that fall within the spirit and scope of the present invention.
